Gossamer by Lois Lowry
In Gossamer, John is put into foster care and befriends Toby, the dog of his caretaker. I designed Toby to be a sort of rag doll but also somewhat realistic so as not to distract from the story. He has a fully articulated head, neck, and tail which allows him to shake his head, pant, bark, and wag his tail. The handle for his head controls the forward, backward, side to side, and tilt motion while the brake lever controls his mouth. His tail can be moved using a small ring on the puppet's body handle.

New Littlest Orb
Not technically a puppet, but fun, nonetheless! At the end of Gossamer, Littlest is presented with a Bestower she calls New Littlest. This needed to glow, look fragile, and have a "gossamer" feel. Materials: This glowing orb is made from sheer fabric, heavy gauge wire, black wire, and a pulsing LED. |
